Cheryl was lucky to find yoga years ago in the midst of health struggles, such as asthma and thyroid disease. She trained extensively under Paula (Padmasri) Tepedino and received her certification in Hatha Yoga. She has gone on to bring her training to the Advanced Professional Level (500-hour), furthering her studies in meditation, posture adjustments, restorative yoga, senior yoga, Sanskrit, sound and hands-on healing. Her style is eclectic, with influences in the Kripalu, Vinyasa and Iyengar traditions. She is the head asana instructor for the 200-hour In-depth Study & Yoga Teacher Training Program at BRC. Cheryl has taught both privately and professionally in studios, universities, corporate centers, senior homes, churches, schools and gyms and is thrilled to have “Breathing Room!” She enjoys watching the many remarkable ways in which her students grow from the practice and is honored to guide them along the way.
Ieva Alverson“Be the change you’d like to see in the world” ~ Gandhi This quote drives me to reach deep inside and remember who I am and was my first inspiration toward personal transformation back in 1996. I became serious about yoga in 1999 when given a choice between taking medication for medical issues or healing on my own through daily yoga. I made a personal commitment to heal through yoga. In 2005 I completed a course called “The Course” in metaphysical mentoring with Michael Cavallaro, author of The 55 Concepts, A Guide to Conscious Living. The concept of the universe and universes beyond made me realize that I am a part of something amazing! I realized how grateful I am to be human and living life on this magnificent planet Earth. I offer my time to serve people through yoga. My yoga teacher certification was completed with Paula Tepedino and Cheryl Paulson at Breathing Room in 2012. The yoga teacher training course has given form to my metaphysical ideas and transformation. I am becoming the change I’d like to see in the world and do it in respect to the universe. My time is also spent working in Blairstown as a teacher at the Ridge and Valley Charter School, where the earth and the universe are our textbooks! My family and I live on the Paulinskill Lake. I bring my heart’s wisdom to my yoga practice. Email Ieva at email@example.com.
Kelly LyonsKelly found yoga in 1998 when she was searching for a way to relieve stress and anxiety. Just recently she completed a 200hr YTT program with teachers Paula Mari Tepedino and Cheryl Paulson at the Breathing Room Center. She sees her role in the good work of teaching yoga as a fostering of self-questioning, awareness, acceptance and healing in her students. She enjoys seeing beauty in people and nature, writing poetry, tending her flock (including her husband, 3 children, and 6 chickens), practicing loving kindness and extending her hand and heart to those who cross her path. I began my teaching career 9 years ago when I became a 200-hour Registered Yoga Instructor. My style is vinyasa, which I teach with dance-inspired flow movements. Teaching a dance inspired class seemed like the next logical move. I taught myself by watching the New York City Ballet Conditions series. I am also an untrained artist whose paintings are flowy like my vinyasa style. I have recently begun making jewelry out of found objects such as guitar picks, pieces that could be used for saddle making and everyday objects. I make bracelets out of guitar strings and they are a hit. I always wear something I made when i teach because it reminds me how humbling it is to have your work admired. I hope to see you in class – Barre class is one of my favorite classes to teach! You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (201)208-3368.
